Why SUNMASTER advises to use 24V for 40+W Solar LED System?

Our suggestion for using 24V battery bank for solar LED system is based on our research which we conducted earlier before launching our Solar LED system.

What we did in our research was that we actually tested both the systems 12V battery bank and as well as 24V battery bank.

1. When LED power is 40W and is associated with 12V battery system, the whole power consumption including controller and everything is around 48W to 50W.
2. And is the scenario of LED power of 40W and connected with 24V battery system, the whole power consumption including controller and everything associated with the system is measured around 42W – 43W.

After conducting the test we can conclude that, there will be a difference of 13% in the power efficiency, so we strongly advise you to go for 24V system for 40+ W solar LED systems.

For power above than 40W, it is beneficial to install 24V battery bank because it is much better in efficiency and it also saves electrical energy greatly.

Technical Perspective:

There is a basic formula for calculating it is: P=UI, which means POWER=Current (A) * Voltage (V)

So when the power is 40W and you have a battery bank of 12V then the current will be 40W/12V = 3.33A and if you have 24V battery bank then the current is 40W/24V = 1.67A this mean 24V battery bank is just half of 12V system.

Less current goes through the wires, automatically the power consumption would be less hence less power lost during the transmission.

What are the advantages of 24V LEDs over 12V LEDs?

LEDs driven by 24V drivers have longer permissible distances between light source and driver as compared to 12V DC LEDs. 12V LEDs are usually suitable for applications where low light outputs are required. 24V LEDs offer products with higher outputs than 12V products.
